Specialist Teaching Assistant - Visually Impaired (VI)

The Post
An experienced Specialist Teaching Assistant in the VI unit is required to work with a supported student whilst at the School and to assist classroom teachers to deliver quality teaching and learning to all students to help raise standards and achievement.
Candidates should have a good standard of education with GCSE Maths/English, be either proficient with reading/writing in Braille and familiar with the Braille equipment or be willing to learn and should be able to relate well to children and communicate diplomatically with parents.
Liaising with teachers regarding planning and differentiation of work for visually impaired students will be key and you should be comfortable and experienced in tending to students' personal care or physical needs.
Post holders will report to the SENCO.
This post is 30 hours per week, 08.30-15.25 Monday-Friday (to include 20 minutes unpaid mid-morning break and 35 minutes lunch break). This is a term time only role plus one Staff Development Day which will be the first of each academic year.
