Our Y11 after-school intervention programme launched this week, with an impressive 66% of students attending extra GCSE support sessions. Interventions run after school Tuesday to Friday and pupils should check the in school timetable for more information.

We're collecting donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank to support local families in need.  Donations can be given to your Tutor, Head of Year or Mr Allen.  Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Thank you for your support and generosity.

KS4 Life Skills Cooking Club took on another viral TikTok recipe this week: Mama’s Crispy Chicken Wings with hot honey drizzle! They practised butchery, marinating and oven-baking techniques, discovering the secret to extra crispy wings: baking powder. Next week, something sweet!

KS4 Life Skills Cooking Club is back! Term 1's theme is Viral Recipes & Online Food Hacks, and we kicked off with Big Mac Tacos, a huge hit with pupils who couldn't wait to tuck in. Next up: chicken wings! Y9 & Y10 pupils can still sign up outside TE1 or speak to Mrs Naylor.

Start the day the right way! All CDS pupils are welcome to enjoy a FREE breakfast in the school canteen. Great food, a friendly atmosphere, and the fuel needed for a successful school day.

We're proud that our pupils' Pride Club Banner was displayed throughout Pride Month at Margate Queer Library and will remain on display until Christmas! A wonderful celebration of identity, inclusion and LGBTQ+ pride. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Another fantastic week at Jewellery Club! Year 7 & 8 pupils created some brilliant Pride-themed pieces, while others have continued developing their laser-cut designs. It’s been wonderful to see so much creativity and imagination reflected in the unique pieces they’ve produced.

A FREE BREAKFAST FOR EVERY STUDENT!

Monday 25 March 2019 at 8:00am is the launch of The Charles Dickens School Breakfast Club.

The School is proud to announce, in partnership with the Department for Education’s new National School Breakfast Programme and Magic Breakfast, a FREE breakfast for every student in the School!  The School is proud to have the support of The Schoolwear Centre in Margate, and it’s very own PFA who have provided help with this venture.

A “Breakfast Club” has been set up which will run daily for every student who wishes to come along.  It will be open from 8:00am to 8:30am, before school, and students can have bagels, cereal and porridge all FREE of charge.  The canteen will be open as normal if students want to purchase additional items at a cost.

Students can enjoy this FREE breakfast, meet their friends and play board games, or read books and magazines, or simply just chat before they start their day. 

Everyone knows how important a good start to the day is so students are encouraged to come along and get some “fuel for school”.

Breakfast Club will launch on Monday 25 March 2019 and will be open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 8:30am.
