Labour Market Information (LMI)
One key component of our careers provision is enabling our students and their parents to have easy access to career and labour market information (LMI). Every pupil, and their parents/carers, should have access to high quality information about their future study options and local labour market opportunities.
This includes information on:
- skills, career pathways and progression routes available in the local labour market
- job applications and interviews, including pupils having the opportunity to participate in mock interviews
- educational institutions, courses, qualifications, entry requirements and costs
- professional bodies
- employment sectors, employers, jobs, salaries and employment trends
- jobs, training and apprenticeships
- the world of work and financial planning.
How we do this:
- teach students how to find and process information through PSHE sessions, assemblies and subject-specific Career in Focus sessions.
- give students access to up-to-date information in a range of different formats, including online software packages
- offer the students first-hand information through encounters with employers and experiences of the workplace, through our Cultural Capital programme and links with external providers
