Year 9 Creativity Shines in Graphics and Textiles
Posted on: 28/01/2026Year 9 pupils at CDS continue to demonstrate exceptional creativity and skill as they develop techniques used by industry professionals across both Graphics and Textiles.
This week, Graphics pupils were challenged to produce design concepts for posters, wristbands, and VIP badges for the upcoming Academic and Summer Festival. Their responses showcased an impressive level of imagination, dedication, and thoughtful design. While the overall standard of submissions was remarkably high, a selection of pieces stood out for their outstanding enthusiasm, resilience, and originality.
In Textiles, Year 9 pupils have been exploring the innovative work of contemporary artist Leisa Rich, known for her use of unconventional materials and interactive textile forms. Inspired by the theme of Cells, pupils created their own experimental artworks, pushing the boundaries of modern textile practice. Their pieces reflected not only technical skill but also a willingness to take creative risks and explore new ideas.
The school is immensely proud of the innovation, curiosity, and effort displayed across both subjects. Year 9 pupils continue to exemplify the high standards and creative spirit of CDS.
