Barton Manor School (BMS), Barton Court Academy Trust’s new Free School, has appointed a Principal Designate and is consulting on its Admissions Arrangements for 2022/23 and 2023/24

Barton Court Academy Trust’s (BCAT) Trustees in conjunction with the DfE have appointed Ms. Kirstin Cardus, Executive Headteacher of BCAT, as the School’s Principal Designate. Ms. Cardus who has led the project since inception will continue to lead the school in preparation for opening in September 2022 and will be the Headteacher of the new school when it opens to students and staff in September 2022.

Ms. Cardus, Executive Headteacher of Barton Court Academy Trust, “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Principal Designate of the Free school and look forward to leading the school once opened to students and staff in September 2022. It has been an amazing opportunity to design a school from inception which can deliver our vision for excellence, collaborative learning and creativity and to lead the school from the outset with students, staff and parents to ensure the best start possible for all.”

Dr Bill Speed, BCAT Chair, “ We are delighted to announce Ms. Kirstin Cardus as the Principal Designate, for Barton Manor School (BMS). Ms. Cardus has a wealth of experience leading several schools including Barton Court Grammar and The Charles Dickens non-selective school in Broadstairs. This experience will be invaluable in establishing Barton Manor School as a new and exciting venture within BCAT. We are excited about adding Barton Manor to our Trust, creating the opportunity to share knowledge, expertise and resources across our three schools.”


Barton Manor School website will be launched on Friday 20th November providing more details about the school. BCAT are simultaneously launching their consultation on the admissions criteria for the academic years 2022/23 and 2023/24. The consultation will run for 7 weeks starting on Friday 20th November and finishes on Friday 8th January 2021 at 5pm.
