Year 9 & 10 Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Posted on: 07/02/2022

Thirty two CDS students have signed up for a life changing experience, working towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Several sessions have already been completed with students already gaining a full first aid qualification. Students have received an introduction to physical fitness as a group, and have then been issued with their own personal training plans according to their data, which will help them work towards fitness for their final expedition.

Team work, cohesion, perseverance and the ability to problem solve are high priorities for this amazing group of students and their skill and ability to conquer the challenges already faced has been remarkable.

There are still more sessions of work to complete before the end of the Award programme but in the meantime the group are also undertaking a school wide litter initiative, to clear both the school site and the surrounding local areas of rubbish.

What a fantastic scheme to complete which helps build confidence, friendships, resilience and shows evidence of ‘soft skills’ which both universities and employers like to see.  Well done to all those involved!
