We hope you enjoyed making pancakes this week! For some, now give up something we enjoy until Easter. It's always a good time to give up unhealthy habits, or take on healthy ones. If you can sustain an activity for more than 21 days it can become a lifelong habit. https://t.co/qWPeGG6Thq

Time Detectives Workshop

Posted on: 18/07/2022

Year 7 and Year 8 CDS students took part in a ‘Time Detectives’ workshop, run by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University.

Students explored the work of scientists who observe particles in ancient artefacts and find ways to slow down changes that may damage the structures. During the workshop, students investigated the ability of different substances to clean a penny and relate it to how, and why, acid can affect surfaces and structures.

The session provided a hands-on demonstration of the need to use X-rays to observe particles and to understand why scientists work in collaboration with historians and archaeologists to find out more about ancient artefacts.
