My Friend the Mercenary - Y9 to 11 Careers Assembly
Posted on: 16/01/2025CDS Year 9 to 11 pupils were lucky enough to be invited to spend the afternoon with the high-risk photographer James Brabazon, a British documentary filmmaker, journalist and author.
James took pupils through his journey, recounting personal events that he had experienced while committing to his career. He clearly showed the passion he feels for his work.
From the humble origins of learning how photography works, to a dangerous encounter in a civil war, James told his story about a lifelong friendship that he made with a mercenary who protected him while he worked.
An interesting and motivating assembly and CDS would like to thank James for taking the time to share his story with their pupils.
My Friend the Mercenary is a book by James Brabazon, a memoir of his time as an ambitious young war reporter.
