Theatre Trip - Witness for the Prosecution
Posted on: 02/03/2026Year 9 and Year 10 Sociology pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to London’s County Hall to watch Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie. Set inside an authentic courtroom, the production immersed pupils from the very first moment. The powerful performances, dramatic tension, and atmospheric setting kept them completely captivated throughout.
What impressed staff most was how naturally pupils stepped into the role of real sociologists. Many began taking notes during the performance, analysing the evidence as it emerged, questioning witnesses’ motives, and debating passionately during the interval about the guilt or innocence of the accused—long before the final twist was revealed.
It was fantastic to see pupils applying their criticalâthinking skills beyond the classroom and engaging so thoughtfully with themes such as justice, persuasion, reliability of evidence, and bias. Experiences like this bring Sociology to life in ways that textbooks alone simply cannot.
A brilliant day filled with curiosity, insight, and excitement—and one they are still talking about!
