Y9 Business Studies pupils enjoyed a visit to Morelli’s in Broadstairs, where owner Giuseppe Morelli (Joe) shared insights into running a successful family business and brought classroom learning to life. Thanks to Joe and the team for a fantastic experience!

Huge congratulations to 2 of our talented Jewellery Club members, who have created an articulated flamingo necklace and a Coraline-inspired badge! Using CAD software and our laser cutter, their designs showcase impressive creativity, skill and attention to detail.

We had a bumper night at KS4 Cooking Skills Club and, continuing with our popular TikTok recipe theme, students took on the challenge of making pan-fried hash browns completely from scratch. A hugely successful session with some seriously impressive results!

Our Y9 pupils have been developing their observational drawing skills by exploring mark making with ink to capture the intricate details and textures of shells. The results were fantastic, with excellent examples demonstrating creativity, precision and attention to detail.

Our Y11 after-school intervention programme launched this week, with an impressive 66% of students attending extra GCSE support sessions. Interventions run after school Tuesday to Friday and pupils should check the in school timetable for more information.

KS4 Life Skills Cooking Club took on another viral TikTok recipe this week: Mama’s Crispy Chicken Wings with hot honey drizzle! They practised butchery, marinating and oven-baking techniques, discovering the secret to extra crispy wings: baking powder. Next week, something sweet!

PRESS RELEASE The Charles Dickens School GCSE Results 2024

CDS would like to congratulate its Year 11 pupils on their achievements.

Warren Smith, Headteacher said, “It is wonderful to be able to congratulate so many pupils on their achievements this year. These results are the product of five years of hard work from our pupils, their parents, our teachers and support staff. The strength of their performance reflects the learning culture we have worked so hard to build at CDS. We send all of our pupils our very best wishes for their next steps.”

There were a number of exceptional performances.

Ronnie Puttick achieved grade 9 in English Language and History, grade 9-9 in Combined Science, grade 8 in English Literature and Maths and distinction* grades in Dance, Sport and Travel & Tourism.

Lottie Rayfield achieved grade 9 in History, grade 8 in English Language, English Literature, grade 8-7 in Combined Science, grade 7 in Maths, grade 5 in Spanish, and distinction* grades in Music and Business.

Archie Price achieved grade 8 in English Language, English Literature and Maths, grade 7 in History, grade 7-6 in Combined Science, distinction* grades in Business, Engineering and Sport.

Callum Lambert achieved grade 9-8 in Combined Science, grade 8 in Maths and History, grade 7 in English Language, grade 6 in English Literature, and distinction grades in Engineering, Hospitality and ICT.
