Y10 Pupils Experience Shakespeare Live in London
Posted on: 21/04/2026Year 10 pupils recently enjoyed an unforgettable educational visit to London to watch Romeo and Juliet performed live at the Harold Pinter Theatre, providing a powerful and enriching experience to enhance their GCSE English Literature studies.
The production was met with great enthusiasm, with acclaimed screen actors Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe delivering compelling and memorable performances in the lead roles. Seeing one of their set texts brought vividly to life on stage offered pupils a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s language, characters, and themes, making classroom learning both tangible and inspiring.
The learning continued well beyond the final curtain call. On the journey home, pupils engaged in lively and thoughtful discussion, particularly around the director’s innovative “sliding doors” concept, which cleverly underscored the central theme of fate within Shakespeare’s tragedy. These conversations demonstrated pupils’ growing analytical skills and their ability to engage critically with theatrical interpretation.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity to combine theatre, learning, and inspiration, leaving pupils with lasting memories and a renewed enthusiasm for their studies. Experiences such as this play a vital role in bringing literature to life and enriching pupils’ cultural understanding.
